Soil profile samples are given in meters below surface (m b.s.). Before present (BP), i.e., before 1950. Samples were radiocarbon-dated at the National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (NOSAMS) facility at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, USA.
