SoilEmpSa is one of the three automatic soil stations in Kobbefjord. The station was established in 2008 and is placed on empetrum and salix vegetation (crowberry and willow) on the eastern side of the river on a south facing slope 40 m.a.s.l. The station (CR1000 logger) is running UTC-3 West Greenlandic Winter time (WGWT). Soil temperatures (thermocouple, 105T) and soil heat flux (hukseflux, HFP01) are logged every 30 minutes, while the soil moisture (Delta-T, ML2x) is logged every six hours (see SoilEmpSa 6h). Comments for 30 minute data: The station had a lot of problems with foxes destroying the sensors resulting in periodically missing data the first couple of years. In mid-August 2017 the cables for the thermocouples were dug free to check the depths of the sensors and hence, the measurements might be disturbed for a shorter period.
