Snow pit stratigraphy - manual measurement

Snow pit stratigraphy observed at the annual snow surveys taking place in the end of the snow season in late winter (app. April). Logging of the stratigraphy includes description of snow grain size, grain shape and hardness throughout the profile. Coordinates of the specific snow pits are given in latitude and longitude in the datafile. Description of the snow pit profiles' snow densities and temperatures are presented in Snow pit density - manual measurement (kg m-3) and Snow pit temperature - manual measurement (Â°C), respectively. The snow survey in Kobbefjord has been carried out annually in late winter since 2008. Please contact the ClimateBasis Nuuk manager for detailed snow survey reports.
