Snow depth is measured manually in various places in the Zackenberg valley, during snow covered periods. In this dataset the position of every snow depth measurement is given in either longitude/latitude or in UTM coordinates (WGS 84, UTM Zone 27 N). Several measurements are from locations scattered in the Zackenberg valley, but measurements are also performed in two transects. One (called SNZ) from the coastline towards the top of Aucella and another (SNM), which is a transect of the central part of the Zackenberg valley (see map in: GeoBasis_Zackenberg_Snow_properties_Zackenberg_valley_Snow_depth.pdf). Furthermore systematic snow depth measurements are performed in transects near the ZEROCALM plots (ZC-1: UTM: NW-corner: 8264856 mN, 513363 mE
NE-corner: 8264847 mN, 513461 mE
SW-corner: 8264758 mN, 513347 mE
SE-corner: 8264748 mN, 513446 mE
Elevation: 45 m a.s.l.
and ZC-2: UTM: NW-corner: 8264083 mN, 513025 mE
NE-corner: 8264033 mN, 513167 mE
SW-corner: 8263970 mN, 512985 mE
SE-corner: 8263920 mN, 513127 mE
Elevation: 13-22 m a.s.l.)
444 measurements were recorded as -1 (and a few as -2), these have been set equal to 0/no snow.
