Climate station data from Bylot Island in Nunavut, Canada

Data are from Bylot Island in Nunavut, Canada. Available data are air and ground temperatures, air humidity, solar radiation, wind speed and direction and the average snow height. The available datasets cover the period from 1992-2019. For each site, the number of measured variables differs. For ground temperature, the depth ranges are as follows: Bylot SILA (BYLOSIL): 5-10 cm. Bylot Montagne à Jack (BYLJACK): 2-10 cm. Bylot Lac aux Goélands (BYLGOEL): 5-30 cm. Bylot Lac du camp (BYLCAMP): 2-10 cm. Data are available as: (1) recorded data; (2) daily averages; (3) monthly averages; and (4) yearly averages.

Variable measured
  • Variable name: Average air humidity  Variable description: Average data recorded every minute for the previous period. The average is calculated by adding the measured values and then dividing the sum by the number of observations.  Variable unit: Percentage  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594678
  • Variable name: Average air temperature  Variable description: Average data recorded every minute for the previous period. The average is calculated by adding the measured values and then dividing the sum by the number of observations.  Variable unit: Degree Celsius  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594677
  • Variable name: Average downwelling radiation  Variable description: Average data recorded every minute for the previous period. The average is calculated by adding the measured values and then dividing the sum by the number of observations.  Variable unit: Watt per square meter  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594683
  • Variable name: Average ground temperature  Variable description: Average data recorded every minute for the previous period. The average is calculated by adding the measured values and then dividing the sum by the number of observations.  Variable unit: Degree Celsius  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594674
  • Variable name: Average snow height  Variable description: Average data recorded every minute for the previous period. The average is calculated by adding the measured values and then dividing the sum by the number of observations.  Variable unit: Meter  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594679
  • Variable name: Average wind speed  Variable description: Average data recorded every minute for the previous period. The average is calculated by adding the measured values and then dividing the sum by the number of observations. Occasional gaps in the sub -0°C range of the record are due to significant ice buildup on the wind monitor.  Variable unit: Meter per second  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594682
  • Variable name: Maximum air temperature  Variable description: The maximum is determined by selecting the highest value obtained during the observation of the last period.  Variable unit: Degree Celsius  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594675
  • Variable name: Maximum wind speed  Variable description: The maximum is determined by selecting the highest value obtained during the observation of the last hour. Occasional gaps in the sub -0°C range of the record are due to significant ice buildup on the wind monitor.  Variable unit: Meter per second  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594681
  • Variable name: Minimum air temperature  Variable description: The minimum is determined by selecting the lowest value obtained during the observation of the last period.  Variable unit: Degree Celsius  Variable URL: http://www.cen.ulaval.ca/nordicanad/infounitedonnees.aspx?id=594676
